Tempur Pedic S.A, a world leader that markets sleep products made with Tempur material in Spain, has conducted an international study in Europe and Japan, which has determined that 47% of respondents demanded a softer sensation with adequate support for nighttime rest. The survey, which was conducted with a sample of 10,000 people, considers that the current trend in the sleep market must also offer a series of products with better adaptability to the body than those that existed some time ago.
On the other hand, Tempur offers the public advice on how to sleep well during the summer season. We must keep in mind that during this time of year our rest is worse since the days are longer and, generally, we spend more time outside, which translates into: fewer hours of sleep, changes in room temperature, varying humidity, and unsuitable mattress conditions. All these factors, accompanied by an average daily sleep that experts estimate at 8.16 hours, lead to an increase in work productivity as well as lower absenteeism and a lower stress index.
A good rest doesn’t depend only on the mattress; there are some basic tips that will allow us to wake up full of energy every day. Tempur, a manufacturer of high-end sleep products, through various independent and clinical studies and thanks to its experience, has developed its own list of details to consider for facilitating a good rest:
· First, it is recommended to maintain a routine schedule: being regular in our bedtime and wake-up time gives stability to our body, helps to relax, and allows us to fall asleep faster.
· The sun also influences our rest. We must protect ourselves from the sun adequately so that it does not have repercussions on our sleep.
· Rest and travel: Summer is usually a time for vacation travel, and time zone changes affect our body. It’s advisable to try to adapt to the nighttime schedules of the destination country from our arrival.
· We should orient our bedroom towards rest and relaxation. The ideal temperature is 18°C. Viscoelastic material mattresses, for example, are also capable of adapting to body temperature, as well as bedding (products that have a cool layer and a warm layer).
· We should keep the room well ventilated, especially before going to bed, thus ensuring correct humidity levels.
· Heavy or fatty dinners are discouraged; a light dinner is better.
· The minimum recommended length for a bed is the height of the body plus 20 cm. A single bed should never be less than 90 cm wide, and a double bed should never be less than 160 cm wide.
· The posture adopted in bed. From the Professional College of Physiotherapists, its spokesperson, Eduardo Zamorano, insists that the ideal sleeping position is on your side, with hips and legs flexed (fetal position).
· Finally, we must not forget that the mattress is not the only important thing; it should always be accompanied by a pillow and a bed base. The base of the bed always influences the properties of each mattress; we must be attentive to its characteristics to choose one base or another.
