The mattress also needs our care and cleaning, especially if you are allergic.
Mattresses should be cleaned at least three times a year.
Take advantage of the change in season and clean your mattress before putting on warmer blankets and bedding, to welcome autumn – winter properly.
Why Do We Need to Clean Mattresses?
The mattress is an ideal place for dust mites to grow and accumulate (causing skin allergies or asthma).
To prevent them from accumulating and also remove all traces of dust, we recommend using your vacuum cleaner and going over the entire mattress several times, until you are completely sure that all traces of dirt have been eliminated.
Other Cleaning Tips:
- If we’re not accustomed to it, or we think that changing the sheets every week and airing out the mattress will keep it clean, we’re very mistaken because even if we do all this, it’s necessary to also perform a ‘deep’ cleaning at least once a month.
- To properly clean a mattress or to remove accumulated dust and dirt, it will be necessary to have the mattress uncovered. Then we take a vacuum cleaner and run it over one side of the mattress, and then the other.
- Sometimes, mattresses even have what is known as a mattress cover, which is a cover that ‘protects’ them even more, so when cleaning it, and if possible, you should remove this cover which can usually be put in the washing machine.
- Many people also opt to beat the mattresses to free them of all accumulated dust. You can also leave the window or balcony open to ventilate it well after cleaning. TIP: To keep the mattress clean for longer, sprinkle baking soda over the surface of the mattress with the help of a sifter. Leave it for approximately 30 minutes and then vacuum the entire surface.
