How we should properly clean and disinfect a mattress

If this Covid 19 pandemic has taught us anything, it is the importance of cleaning and disinfecting our home.
Some of the household objects that we most often disinfect on a daily basis are in the kitchen or bathroom, but did you know that TV remotes are the surfaces most contaminated by bacteria? o That more bacteria live in your mattress than in a chimpanzee nest?

Mites are microscopic arachnids. Dust mites feed on human and animal dander; of the dead skin that our body sheds. After ingesting dandruff, the mites defecate and the feces of the mites accumulate inside the mattress causing allergies and infections.

We explain how we can carry out proper hygiene and disinfection of our mattress:

  • It is advisable to air the mattress at least twice a year.
  • Then we will run the vacuum cleaner over the entire surface of the mattress.
  • The mattress protective cover must be washed at a high temperature.
  • For further disinfection, we can use some of the existing products on the market, for mattress disinfection.
  • Let it air for a few hours and then change the sheets.
  • In the case of urine stains on the mattress, it should be thoroughly cleaned by rubbing with soap and water, with the help of a brush, removing the excess with a damp cloth and then letting it dry.
  • Once our mattress has been thoroughly cleaned, we must remember to air the room every day for at least 10 minutes and change the sheets at least every 15 days.

This task is essential for our health, but we must remind you that there are anti-mite mattresses and antibacterial mattresses that allow us to rest safely. In short, this type of mattress is made of materials that prevent dust from accumulating to a large extent.

At My Mattress, we have several anti-mite mattresses and antibacterial mattresses, but if we had to choose one, we would surely highlight the DICON MIRAMAR MATTRESS, a latex mattress with 100% organic cotton fabric.
