Marilyn Monroe and her phrase “Just a few drops of Chanel No. 5” to the question of how she slept, made sleeping naked fashionable.
Although we know that now in winter sleeping with little clothing is not very common, it is true that there are people who prefer to sleep without pajamas throughout the year. Now, several studies find that in addition to a fashion, sleeping without clothes, or with little, has clear health benefits. We tell you:
- Lose weight. Yes, according to a study published in the journal Diabetes, sleeping in a room where it is not hot (or cold) produces the activation of fat that helps burn excess calories, so you lose weight faster.
- High self-esteem. It may seem silly, but many psychologists argue that the simple act of sleeping naked helps improve confidence and self-esteem.
- We rest better. The Los Angeles Institute for Sleep Studies has confirmed that sleeping in pajamas does not help with self-regulation of body temperature, so it affects the sleep cycle, delaying the arrival of deep sleep.
- We age less. Anti-aging hormones and melatonin are best released when our body temperature is right… and for this it is best to sleep without pajamas!
- Better health. According to the National Sleep Foundation, sleeping without pajamas helps prevent increased blood pressure, cholesterol, appetite, and sleep disruptions, because it regulates the level of cortisol.
- Better sexual health. For both female and male genitals, it is better to sleep without clothes, or in the case of sleeping in pajamas, it is better that they are loose clothes and that do not tighten. In the case of women, the proliferation of fungal infections is prevented, in the case of men fertility improves.
- Better sexuality. Sleeping skin-to-skin with your partner causes oxytocin, the so-called “love hormone”, to be released, which increases sexual desire.
And you? Do you prefer pyjamas, nightgowns or sleeping with nothing?
