Who hasn’t had or doesn’t have some back pain or problem?
We usually worry about postural education in our daily lives, at work, at home… but what about while we sleep?
And what about choosing an adequate firmness for our mattress that mitigates or even helps correct back problems? Therefore, we must consider the ideal tools that guarantee proper rest since we spend a third of the day’s hours sleeping, so choosing an appropriate mattress will be key to the health of our back.
Rest, therefore, is fundamental to achieve physical and mental well-being, helping to improve our health status.
There are almost as many ways to sleep as there are people, but it’s true that not all of them are suitable. It’s easy for bad postural habits while sleeping to cause feelings of not having rested properly upon waking.
There are multiple cases of people who come to our consultation complaining of ailments when they get out of bed in the morning.
For multiple reasons, sleeping on your side is the best position: the nose and chest are free, so there will be no breathing problems, the joints are in a comfortable position, not forced, and the muscles are relaxed, in positions that don’t subject them to tension.
Sleeping on your stomach is the least recommended position, to say the least. The head, being supported by the pillow, has to be turned to one side in such a way that the body is not aligned with the body; it’s not strange that it bothers when waking up. The chest is compressed, making breathing difficult. The shoulders, being elevated with respect to the body, are often painful and forced. We also find an increase in the lumbar curvature, which maintained over time will generate pain and tension in the area.
And sleeping on your back is not the most recommended position but not the most harmful either, it could be considered a middle ground; since both the nose and chest are free, which favors breathing, and a large number of muscles and joints are in a good position, natural, comfortable and relaxed. In this position, it’s recommended to place a pillow under the bent knees to remove tension from the lumbar area.
It is advisable to follow a series of indications from specialists (VENDEDORES DE MI COLCHÓN) when acquiring a product of this type. The material it’s made of should perfectly adapt to the natural curve of our back and its design should favor the rest of areas such as shoulders, hips and the entire length of the spine.
